Speak up to help protect your retirement and life savings
This November, voters will decide whether to protect retirement accounts and life savings from new taxes, and whether to ban retroactive taxes on what people earned in the past.
We need to make sure voters hear from real Californians, like you.
Tell us why you’re voting YES. There’s no right or wrong way to share your story—just speak from your own experience.
If helpful, you can use one of the prompts below.
- How have you worked over the years to save for your retirement, and what does that security mean for you and your family?
- How do California’s high taxes and cost of living impact your financial security today? In the future?
- What would it mean for you/your family if the state taxed your retirement and savings, including money you saved years ago thinking the rules wouldn’t change?
“I’m a retired state employee living on my pension. At nearly 80, I can’t go back and start over if new taxes are imposed. The state needs to leave our retirement alone.”
"When you’re getting closer to retirement, you’re living on what you’ve set aside, so anything that cuts into that matters. We planned based on what we thought things would look like down the road. If that changes, it puts more pressure on everything. You start second guessing whether you’ll have enough, and that’s not a good feeling after working your whole life to get to this point."
